COLLEGES | funding

FUNDING for residential and day students at a Camphill specialist college of further education comes from the Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA) through your Local Authority.

Following acceptance of a place by a student and his or her parents, the assessments made during the application procedure are used to gauge the student's support needs. The college also writes an individual learning programme for the student.

The student's Connexions adviser then submits the application for funding to the Local Authority which is usually, but not always, for two years. If it is decided at an annual review that a third year might be appropriate for a student, the college may apply for an extension of funding.

In exceptional circumstances, when a student will benefit from further years, funding can be sought from a variety of sources including social services, benefits and private means.

For more information contact the college you are applying to.
