LEARNING IN CAMPHILL | curative education

CO-WORKERS who have completed the Induction and Foundation programmes may, in consultation with their community, embark on one of the advanced courses that individual communities or the UK and Ireland region as a whole offer.

Curative Education and Social Therapy Seminars

These 3-4 year programmes, run by some of the Camphill schools, have a long history; for many years they have provided the core training and source of experienced teachers, house guardians, and therapists in our communities. These programmes are usually only available to those who live and work in those school communities that run them.

The programmes provide a broad and in-depth insight into the developing human being from an anthroposophical perspective; into the psychological, physiological and biographical dimensions of children and adults with developmental or learning disabilities; and into practical therapeutic methods available in working with these children and adults.

The programmes involve weekly formal teaching, study, research and assignment work; at the same time they are firmly embedded in the daily work with the person with special needs. They lead to the award of a diploma or BA degree in Curative Education and Social Therapy.

There are currently three such programmes in the UK:

Curative Education and Social Therapy Seminar
Sheiling School Ringwood

Camphill Training in Curative Education and Social Therapy
Glencraig Camphill Community

BA (Hons) Programme in Curative Education and Social Therapy
Run jointly by Camphill Rudolf Steiner Schools and the University of Aberdeen
