Camphill self advocacy conference 2008.
OUR Life's Journey - Past, Present & Future is the title of a conference for Camphill residents to be held at Hartington Hall, near Buxton in the Derbyshire Peak District from 18th to 20th November 2008.
It is the latest in the series of self-advocacy conferences organised by Camphill residents for Camphill residents, and will be a celebration of person centred approaches, person centred planning and biography work.
Previous conferences have been organised by a planning group of people from a number of Camphill communities including Grange, Oaklands, Taurus, Orchard Leigh, Milton Keynes, Delrow and Devon.
The last conference - Hear for the Future - was held in Ludlow last year. This time the intention is to invite even more communities to join in. Julie Woods, from Camphill Families & Friends and Jacquie Spencer from the Camphill Social Work Advisory Team are helping to organise the conference. To involve as many people as possible there are three planning groups - one in the South West, one in the South East and one in the North.
A bank account has been opened and fundraising has started to cover conference expenses. A bursary fund is planned for people who could not otherwise afford to come. The South West group put together an exhibition of photographs from previous conferences to take to events like the Oaklands Christmas Market and other Christmas events in their area to raise money.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to help with the conference and bursary fund can contact the treasurers of the South West planning group, Leonore Woodford and Ian O'Neil, at The Grange, Newnham-on-Severn GL14 1HJ.
