CAMPHILL is the name given to the movement of intentional therapeutic communities founded by Dr Karl König (1900-1965), an eminent Viennese paediatrician. Along with a group of people he established, in 1940, the first community with children with special needs in Camphill House near Aberdeen, Scotland. Gannicox Community is a full member of the Association of Camphill Communities in the UK and Ireland. This is the representative and co-ordination body for all Camphill communities in the UK and Ireland. It represents Camphill communities to Government and other organisations and promotes community living as a shared way of life.
