Residents application process

Residents admission criteria

WITH ONLY eight places for supported residents, Gannicox is a small community and will only very infrequently have a vacancy for new residents. We do not keep a waiting list.

If you are interested in a potential placement you may be invited to make an initial informal visit to Gannicox Community . If you live nearby, it may be helpful to build an initial relationship through regular visits; in this way, a subsequent application will be based upon a clearer understanding of what living in Gannicox Community entails.

If or when there is a vacancy you will be sent copies of our admissions procedure and of the admissions criteria together with a questionnaire which will give us an overview of your support needs and expectations. This will usually be followed by an invitation to stay at Gannicox for a week or more.

If the Management Group considers that your needs and expectations match our admissions criteria, and that there is a good chance that a placement may be successful, we will encourage you to fill in and send us our formal application form together with any support needs assessments and support plans currently in place.

We will look at the whole picture again, also consulting with our current residents, and then decide on whether we can offer you a place at Gannicox. Joining the community would then be pending successful support needs assessment by funding bodies and arrangements for adequate funding.

THE CAMPHILL ADVISORY SERVICE - an initiative of Camphill communities throughout England & Wales - is a first point of contact with Camphill for people who may be considering - on behalf of themselves or others - joining a Camphill community or may have other questions about Camphill and learning disabilities or other special needs. Do feel free to contact this service for advice in the situation where you may be contemplating approaching a variety of communities beyond ourselves at Gannicox.
